Faf du Plessis started all guns blazing but Mustafizur Rahman struck twice in over to dent RCB's progress. Deepak Chahar then removed Glenn Maxwell to put more misery on RCB.
Mustafizur came back for his second over and dismissed Virat Kohli and Cameron Green too. Earlier, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bat at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The toss was delayed by 10 minutes following a star-studded opening ceremony.
