Ctg court accepts charges against ex-minister's son

Chattogram, Bangladesh Global: A court in Chattogram did not accept the final report of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) recommending the acquittal of five defendants including a former minister's son, from the charges of giving illegal gas connections and transfer in Chattogram. Chattogram Metropolitan Judge Jebunnesar took the charges into cognisance on Sunday (April 9), Abdul Latif, inspector of Chattogram court, said they came to know the matter on Monday.

Lawyers at the court said the court never accept the final report of the investigator if he submitted the report excluding all the accused or any accused without logical reason. in that case, the court took the charges into cognisance directly. Earlier on June 10, 2021, sacked ACC deputy assistant director Sharifuddin filed the case as the plaintiff where he made accused former expatriate welfare and foreign employment minister Nurul Islam's son Mujibur Rahman and four others.

Other accused are: Md Sarwar Hossain, former general manager (engineer and services) of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company (KGDCL), former south zone technician (surveyor) Md Didarul Alam, manager Mujibur Rahman, and former general manager (marketing) Mohammad Ali Chowdhury.
