Bagerhat, Bangladesh Global: A man was killed and another 12 were injured in a head-on collision between two buses at Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday morning.
The accident took place at around 6:30 am on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Faltita area in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Shridhar Ganguly, hailing from Devogram in Gopalganj's Kotalipara upazila.
It was learnt that a Dhaka-bound bus of Dola Paribahan collided head-on with a bus of Rajib Paribahan, coming from the opposite direction, in the area.
At that time, the Dola Paribihin bus fell into a ditch due to the impact.
Around 12 passengers were injured from both buses, and Ganguly died on the spot.
The injured are undergoing treatment in several hospitals in the area.
Getting information, police recovered the body and it will be handed over to the family members after completing legal procedures, said Sheikh Nuruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Mollahat Highway Police Station.
The vehicles have been seized in this regard but the drivers of both buses managed to flee from the scene.
