Sylhet, Bangladesh Global: Train services of Sylhet with the rest of the country resumed after around nine hours following the derailment of two bogies of the intercity 'Paharika Express' train at Katalpur in Fenchuganj.
The rail communication resumed at 3am on Thursday after the bogies were salvaged, said Sylhet Railway Station manager Md Nurul Islam.
He said the derailment occurred around 6:45pm on Wednesday when the 'Paharika Express' train was heading towards Sylhet from Chattogram.
After the derailment, the train movement of Sylhet with the rest of the country was suspended. And several trains stranded at different stations.
Manager Nurul Islam said the Udayan Express train was scheduled to start its journey for Chattogram at 10pm on Wednesday. But it left Sylhet at 3:20am on Thursday. Dhaka-bound Upaban Express train left Sylhet for Dhaka at 7am. It was scheduled to leave for Dhaka at 11:30pm on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, the Kalni Express, originally scheduled for 6:15 am, also faced delays and departed at 8:45 am.
