60 mm of rain in Dhaka in 3 hrs

News Desk, Bangladesh Global: It rained continuously for three hours across the capital on Friday morning from 6 am to 9 am. According to Meteorological Office, 60 mm of rain has fallen in Dhaka in these three hours. It is still drizzling. Incessant rains have caused waterlogging in various places. The city dwellers are suffering.

Incessant rains have created waterlogging at Moghbazar Wireless Gate, Bailey Road, Siddheshwari, Mouchak, Malibagh intersection, Shantinagar intersection in the capital.
Knee-deep water has accumulated in the area.

There is waist-deep water on the main road of Shantinagar, Mouchak area. Due to heavy rains, the hardworking people have suffered greatly due to waterlogging.


Although Friday is a weekly public holiday, private employees or working people who have gone out of the house to earn a living are in the most trouble. Due to the rain, there were hardly any vehicles on the road.


Mujahid, a resident of Wireless Gate in the capital, said that he came to the main road over knee-deep water to take medicine for his child. Terrible conditions on the roads.

Rickshaw driver Shahed Hasan said, ''I came to Moghbazar with a rickshaw from waist-deep water. Rent cannot be taken there. There are no people in the rain, even if I get a fare or two, I cannot drive rickshaw with knee-deep water. The body and legs do not move.''

The Met Office said heavy rains are likely to occur at any moment across the country as the monsoon is active. The Met Office has issued a 48-hour heavy rain warning. With heavy rain in five divisions of the country, the agency said there is a risk of landslides in some parts of the hilly areas of two divisions.
