Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: The High Court has ordered the immediate removal of the song “Nana Nati” from all social media platforms for the line "Bortomaner Court e Bichar Chole Note e" (trials in the current court depend on money).

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has been asked to implement this directive.

A double bench of the High Court passed the order on Monday following a writ petition filed by Arifur Rahman Murad.

Previously, the song "Nana Nati" became a trending topic during the last Eid, going viral on social media. In the song, lyricist and singer Aly Hasan addressed various issues through the characters of a grandfather and grandson. Notably, the famous poet and actor Marzuk Russell played the role of the grandfather.

A legal notice was sent to Aly Hasan to remove the song due to one of its lines, "Bortomaner Court e Bichar Chole Note e," which led to charges of contempt of court. Following this, the assistant public prosecutor (APP) of Sherpur District Judge Court, Advocate Fahim Hasnain, sent a legal notice to the singer.

The legal notice, sent by post to the registry on June 19, demanded a public apology online and the removal of the contemptuous line from the song within 15 days. The notice also mentioned that failure to comply would result in legal action against Aly Hasan.
