Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: A group of drivers of batter-run auto-rickshaw set fire to a traffic police box at Kalshi intersection near Mirpur in the capital protesting the closure of their vehicles on the city streets.
The agitating drivers set ablaze in the police box around 4:30 pm on Sunday, said Pallabi Police Station inspector (Investigation) Mokhlesur Rahman.
He said, "The auto-rickshaw drives are carrying out violent agitation. They set fire to a police box of traffic police at Kalshi intersection. We are now on the spot to take the necessary steps."
Earlier, the drivers blocked the roads and set fire to them. As a result, the vehicular movement through the roads was halted. At that time, they vandalised some vehicles. They also engaged themself in the chase and counter-chase with police.
