BNP rally begins at Naya Paltan

Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: BNP leaders and activists organized a rally demanding the release of their chairperson Khaleda Zia at Naya Paltan in Dhaka on Saturday.

The gathering started with the recitation of the Holy Quran around 3pm.

A large number of activists participated in this rally in front of the central office. The Naya Paltan area was filled with the march of leaders and activists before 2pm, centred on the rally. Both sides of the road in front of the office have been closed.

This is the first major program of BNP in almost eight months.

BNP leaders and activists gathered in front of various buildings along the roads of Purana Paltan, Bijoynagar, Fakirapool, and Arambagh areas, including Dhaka metropolis and surrounding districts.

From there, they joined the rally. Meanwhile, from the rally stage, BNP leaders and activists were requested to participate in the rally in a peaceful and orderly manner.

The road in front of BNP's Naya Paltan office has been partially restricted, leaving only one lane open for traffic.

BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said: "Activists and leaders are coming from Dhaka city and surrounding areas to demand the unconditional release of Khaleda Zia. People are coming despite the bad weather. I think this gathering will be the biggest in memory."

BNP has formed volunteer teams from its affiliated bodies to keep the rally successful and peaceful.

The joint general secretary of the party said that BNP’s Juba Dal, Jatiotabadi Swechhasebak Dal, Muktijoddha Dal, Krishak Dal, Mohila Dal, Chattra Dal, Ulama Dal, Jele Dal, Tanti Dal, Doctors Association, Engineers Association, Agriculturists Association, and Combined Professional Council are participating in the rally.

After that, on July 1 and 3, rallies will be held in all metropolitan and district cities of the country.
