The Prime Minister is going to China today

Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going on a four-day visit to China on Monday. 20 MoUs are likely to be signed between the two countries during the visit. Apart from this, some development projects will be discussed.

At the press conference organized by the Prime Minister's visit to China on Sunday afternoon, Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud informed this information.

The Foreign Minister said that the Prime Minister will visit Beijing from July 8 to 11 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang. He will leave for China on a special Bangladesh Biman flight at 11 am today. The same day will land at Beijing International Airport at 6pm local time in China. A guard of honor will be given to the Prime Minister at the airport. Apart from this, during his visit to Beijing, the Prime Minister will unveil the Chinese translation of Bangabandhu's book 'Amar Deha Nayachin'.

The minister said that the Prime Minister will have a courtesy call on the President of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Jean Likun on the morning of July 9. On the same day, the Prime Minister will participate in the Summit on Trade, Business and Investment Opportunities between Bangladesh and China at Sang-Gri-La Circle.At noon on this day, the Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the 14th National Committee, Wang Huning. Later in the afternoon, the Prime Minister will pay his respects at the traditional Tiananmen Square. On July 10, the Prime Minister will meet Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

Later, in the presence of the two Prime Ministers, they will meet in a bilateral meeting with high-level delegations from the two countries. After that, about 20 MoUs may be signed in the presence of the heads of government of the two countries and the inauguration of some projects will be announced.

Hashan Mahmud said, agreement on economic and banking sector, trade and investment, digital economy, infrastructure development, disaster management etc., construction of sixth and ninth Bangladesh-China friendship bridge, export of agricultural products from Bangladesh, disaster management, people to people connectivity etc. There is a possibility of a memorial signing.

In response to a question whether the Teesta project will be discussed during the Prime Minister's visit to China, the minister said that if China shows interest in the Teesta issue, there will be a discussion. Teesta is a joint river of India and Bangladesh. India has offered us the Teesta project. We are reviewing it now. The development of Bangladesh will be given importance in this visit of the Prime Minister. Our relationship with China is very deep. It has strategic relations with the country. This visit is important for us.


In response to the question whether budget support will be taken from China or not, the minister said that there will be a compromise agreement on economic cooperation with China during this visit. Future discussions will be based on this. In response to another question in this regard, he said, "We are not cooperating in terms of our needs and reviewing our parameters." After the World Bank withdrew from the Padma Bridge, it sought to re-assist; But we did not accept it.

The foreign minister said that Bangladesh would seek China's assistance in terms of investment and trade in Bangladesh, financial assistance and repatriation of Rohingya sheltered in Bangladesh. At the same time, Bangladesh will support China as a friend of China in the global context.

Finance Minister, Foreign Minister, Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser, Minister of State for Commerce, State Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Foreign Secretary and other secretaries and related high-level government officials will accompany the Prime Minister.
