News Desk, Bangladesh Global: Renowned singer and TV host Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel lost his battle with cancer and passed away on Tuesday.
He breathed his last around 11:53am at a private hospital in Dhaka.
Diagnosed with liver cancer in 2011, Jewel's illness eventually spread to his lungs and bones.
His first album, "Kuashar Prahar," released in 1993, became an instant hit.
Jewel's untimely departure has deeply impacted the cultural arena.
Among his notable albums are "Amar Ache Ondhokar," "Ekta Manush," "Dekha Hobe Na," "Beshi Kichu Noy," "Bedona Shudhu Bedona," "Phirti Pothe," "Dorja Khola Bari," and "Emon Keno Holo."
While best known as a musician, Jewel was also a distinguished documentary filmmaker.
