Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus conveyed deepest condolences to the President of the United States of America on the passing away of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.
In his messages, the Chief Adviser paid profound tributes to the late President Carter as a global champion of human rights, democracy and peace. Terming President Carter as a true friend of Bangladesh, the Chief Adviser lauded his efforts in fostering strong bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States during his tenure and beyond. Professor Muhammad Yunus also recalled President Carter's visit to Bangladesh in 1986 and deeply appreciated his impactful works in Bangladesh through the Carter Center, particularly in the areas of women’s empowerment, good governance, and democratic advancement in Bangladesh.
On a personal note, the Chief Adviser recollected his cherished friendship with the late US President and their interactions at various forums including in the gatherings of the Nobel Laureates. He revered President Carter’s humility, wisdom, and commitment to empowering people, protecting human rights and ensuring social justice. The Chief Adviser expressed his firm optimism that the legacy of the late President Carter would inspire generations across the globe. The Chief Adviser also prayed for the eternal peace of his departed soul.
