Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairperson, Tarique Rahman gave his first speech on return to homeland on a historic occasion. He addressed seas of people at the 300 feet area of Dhaka where a reception was hosted for him. As Tarique began his speech, the massive crowd erupted in applause.
Quoting prominent activist Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK), Tarique stated, "I have a plan" in reference to the iconic "I have a dream" speech of MLK. Emphasising the need for maintaining peace, Tarique Rahman said he has a plan for the country and its people.
“We want peace in every possible way. If we remain united we can fulfill the expectations of the people,” he said while addressing the nation. “Today, the people of Bangladesh want to regain their right to speak. They want to get back their right to democracy. The people of all religions must work together to build a safer Bangladesh.” he added.
Tarique Rahman finally returned to Bangladesh today as he arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 11.40am by a regular Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight. He left the airport at 12:33 pm after a reception from members of the BNP Standing Committee members, after which he boarded a special bus around 12:40 pm for heading towards the reception.
