Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath paid a courtesy call on BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman in Dhaka on Wednesday. The minister met him at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office around 8:30pm.
During the meeting, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dharmapala Weerakkody, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Joint Secretary General Humayun Kabir were present.
According to party sources, the meeting included a brief discussion on the friendly ties between the two countries and the current political situation. Vijitha Herath, who represented the government and people of Sri Lanka at the funeral of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, also reiterated deep condolences over the death of the veteran Bangladeshi leader.
