News Desk, Bangladesh Global: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Parliamentary Party has elected party Chairman Tarique Rahman as the Leader of the House in the Parliament. The decision came at a meeting of the BPP at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Tarique Rahman is now set to form the new government as prime minister.
At the first parliamentary party meeting, Fakhrul also said it was decided that no BNP MP will take a duty-free car or any government plot.
"After a long period marked by repression, destruction of democracy and making parliament ineffective, the country has finally got a parliament through a credible election, achieved through the sacrifices of many people," said Fakhrul.
All newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) of BNP in the 13th national elections took oath of office at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) here today. Chief Election Commissioner Nasir Uddin administered the oath of office to the lawmakers at the Oath Room of Sangsad Bhaban at 10:43 am.
