Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: President Mohammed Shahabuddin paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the Language Movement on the occasion of Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day early today.
Earlier, at 11:55pm, the president arrived at the Central Shaheed Minar premises, where he was received by Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan. He placed a wreath at the Shaheed Minar and stood in silence in honor of the language martyrs.
Following the President, the prime minister, cabinet members and other important dignitaries placed wreaths at the Shaheed Minar one by one.
Tight security measures were taken in and around the Shaheed Minar centering on the president’s visit and tribute.
