Bogura, Bangladesh Global: Two people were killed including a child after a covered van hit a truck at Nandigram upazila in Bogura district on Sunday night.
The accident took place at 11:00 pm in Ronbagha bus stand area on the Bogura-Natore highway in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Sahidul islam, 35, hailed from Mirpur upazila in Kushtia; and Bayezid, 3, son of Belal Hossain, from the same area.
It was learnt that a Bogura-bound covered van hit a standing truck from its behind in the area, leaving Sahidul Islam dead on the spot and others were injured, who were sitting beside the driver in the covered van.
Later, fire service personnel rescued the injured and took them to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared Bayezid dead.
Injured Belal Hossain and his wife are under treatment in the hospital.
Abbas Ali, officer in-charge of Kundarhat Highway Police Station, said that the covered van was brought to the police station, while the truck driver managed to flee with his vehicle from the scene.
