Bulkhead movement to be suspended during Eid

Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: he movement of all types of bulkheads will be completely halted for 11 days before and after Eid-ul-Azha from June 13 to ensure hassle-free journey for holidaymakers.

Apart from this, all trucks and covered vans except cattle-carrying vehicles or perishable goods-laden vehicles will remain suspended for seven days during the Eid.

It was decided at a meeting on the movement of ferries, steamers, launches and other vessels during Eid at the secretariat in the capital on Thursday. State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury was in the chair.

The meeting has also decided that the number of ferries in Kazirhat and Paturia ferry terminals as well as the number of launches will be increased.

The state minister said they are working to ensure the safe transportation of sacrificial animal-carrying vessels.

At the same time he also urged people to follow the weather bulletin in regular basis while transporting passengers and sacrificial animals.
