Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: Two associates of Prashant Kumar Halder, also known as PK Halder, surrendered before a Dhaka court on Tuesday in 15 cases.
The two associates are the then directors of International Leasing and Financial Services Basudev Banerjee and his wife Papia Banerjee.
Following a court order, Basudev Banerjee and Papia Banerjee surrendered before Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain this morning and sought bail in the cases.
On May 23, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court ordered Basudev Banerjee and Papia Banerjee to surrender by June 4.
On May 9, the High Court granted six-week anticipatory bail to Basudev Banerjee and Papia Banerjee in the 15 cases over illegal acquisition of wealth.
In 2021, the ACC filed the cases against Basudev Banerjee and Papia Banerjee, alongwith PK Halder, accusing them of embezzlement.
