Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: Academic and administrative activities of all public universities across the country came to a halt as teachers and employees went on an indefinite strike demanding withdrawal of universal pension scheme 'Prottoy'.
All classes and examinations are suspended following the strike.
On Monday (July 1) morning, this information was received from different universities in the country, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Jahangirnagar, Jagannath University.
The teachers under the banner of the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers' Association are observing the work abstention.
Meanwhile, as today is the 104th founding anniversary of Dhaka University (DU), there is no other programme of the agitating teachers.
Prof Zinat Huda, general secretary of DU Teachers' Association, said, "As today is the founding anniversary, there is no classes and examination on the day. That's why we have decided not to attend the university day function today as part of the demand movement.
