Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: The price of diesel and kerosene has been reduced by Tk1 per litre, from Tk107.75 to Tk106.75.
However, the prices of petrol and octane remain unchanged at Tk127 and Tk131, respectively, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Sunday night.
The revised prices will be effective from Monday.
The ministry said the government had been adjusting fuel prices every month since March in line with global market trends using an automatic formula, and the revised diesel and kerosene prices were part of this process.
Although global fuel prices have decreased slightly, the cost of importing fuel has increased due to the devaluation of the taka against the US dollar.
Previously, during the price adjustment for June, the prices of diesel and kerosene were increased by Tk0.75 litre, and the prices of petrol and octane were increased by Tk2.5.
At that time, the price of diesel and kerosene was increased from Tk107 to Tk107.75, petrol from Tk124.5 to Tk127, and octane from Tk128.5 to Tk131 per litre.
Fuel prices were also increased in May: the price of diesel and kerosene was increased by Tk1 per litre, and the price of petrol and octane was increased by Tk2.5 per litre. However, prices had decreased in March and April.
