Sylhet under water again

One thousand 176 villages of Sylhet's 97 unions have been flooded again by the third round of floods. 7 lakh 1 thousand 658 people are trapped in water. This information was given in a report of the Sylhet district administration on the flood situation on Tuesday night. It is said that all the upazilas of Sylhet have been affected by the floods caused by the landslides and heavy rains. Due to rainfall and hill slopes, the water of various rivers of Sylhet including Surma-Kushiara is flowing over the danger level at five points. The district administration has made all kinds of preparations to deal with the situation.

According to the Sylhet Water Development Board (PUBO), at 6 pm on Tuesday, the water of the Surma river was flowing above the danger level of 112 cm at the Kanighat point. The water of this river was flowing over 10.79 cm at Sylhet point. Here the limit is 10.80 cm
Kushiara water is flowing above the danger level by 89 cm at Amalshid point, 97 cm at Fenchuganj point, 26 cm at Sheola point and 17 cm at Sherpur. However, there is a slight decrease in the cheeses of Sari, Sarigoin and Lova rivers.

Sylhet Meteorological Department Assistant Meteorologist Shah Md. Sajib Hossain told reporters that 14 mm of rain fell from 6 am to 6 pm on Tuesday. Heavy rain is forecast in Sylhet today till Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Sheikh Russel Hasan told reporters that the fear of the third round of floods was already being made. For this reason, Upazila executive officials have been instructed to prepare in advance. He also said that the shelters are ready. The government has all kinds of preparations to deal with the situation with caution.
