Sports Desk, Bangladesh Global: Several Bangladesh cricketers are on the brink of achieving significant personal milestones as their team prepares to face India in a two-match Test series.

The first Test will be held in Chennai from September 19, followed by the second in Kanpur starting September 27.

Buoyed by a historic victory over Pakistan, Bangladesh is confident of claiming their first-ever Test win against India. To date, the Tigers have lost 11 of the 13 Tests against India, with the remaining two matches ending in rain-affected draws. A win in this series would make India the 10th Test nation that Bangladesh has beaten.

Key players are approaching remarkable individual records as well. Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim is just nine runs away from becoming Bangladesh's all-time highest run-scorer across formats, overtaking Tamim Iqbal's 15,192 runs. Mushfiqur, currently in fine form, has amassed 15,184 runs and is expected to surpass Tamim during the series.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam also stands on the cusp of a milestone, needing just five wickets to become the second Bangladeshi bowler to reach 200 Test wickets, after Shakib Al Hasan. Taijul narrowly missed the chance to achieve this feat in Pakistan, where team combinations kept him out.

Additionally, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the standout player of the recent Pakistan series, is close to joining Bangladesh’s elite bowlers. He needs just seven more wickets to become the fourth Bangladeshi player to take 300 wickets across all formats, following Shakib Al Hasan (708), Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (389), and Mustafizur Rahman (323).

This series not only offers Bangladesh a chance to make history against India but also provides an opportunity for their players to etch their names into the record books.
