Barguna, Bangladesh Global: Masud Kamal Tofazzal, who died of torture for hours by some students of Dhaka University, has been laid to rest beside the graves of his parents and brother in Patharghata in Barguna.
His namaz-e-janaza took place at a local mosque on Friday morning, and was attended by hundreds of people.
They demanded exemplary punishment for the brutal murder.
The country rattled in shock and burst into anger on Thursday after Tofazzal, who had mental health conditions died of torture for hours by some students inside the Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall of Dhaka University, suspecting him to be a mobile thief.
The students first beat him in the guest room, forcing him to admit the crime.
Then they took him to the hall canteen and had him have some food, only to be brought back to the hall for another round of torture.
Tofazzal Hossain, 32, who went to the hall for some food around 8pm, was left abandoned at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after midnight as the duty doctor declared him dead upon arrival.
The students who took the lifeless body to the hospital fled the scene.
As of the latest development, six students have been arrested over the incident.
