Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: Former lawmaker Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmed has been placed on a five-day remand in a case filed over the murder of a Juba Dal leader Shamim during a BNP rally on October 28, 2023.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ragib Nur passed the order on Monday after investigation officer of the case Tanmay Kumar Bishwas, a sub-inspector of Paltan Police Station produced him before the court and pleaded for a 10-day remand in the case.
Earlier, in the morning, Detective Branch (DB) of police detained former lawmaker Mansur from immigration after he landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital from Canada.
According to family members, Sultan Mansur, a former vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), had been in tour in USA, US and Canada for long time.
He was outside the country long before the student movement. There is no case against him so far.
