Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: Former civil aviation and tourism minister Lt Col (retd) Muhammad Faruk Khan and three others have been placed on three-day remand each in a case filed over the murder of schoolboy Shamim at Dhanmandi in Dhaka during the recent mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shahin Reza passed the order on Sunday after police produced them before the court and pleaded for five-day remand each.
Three other remanded accused are --- former lawmaker Sadek Khan, secretary of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League's Dhaka University chapter Tanvir Hasan Saikat, and former ward councilor Hasibur Rahman Manik.
According to the case documents, on August 5, Shamim, 13, joined anti-discrimination student movement at Dhanmandi.
When the procession reached Kalabagan area, supporters of Awami League and its front organisations attacked them, leaving Shamim and many others critically injured.
Shamim was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the next day (August 6).
Mother of the victim Jahanara Begum filed the case with Dhanmandi Police Station on October 3 against 128, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
