International Desk, Bangladesh Global: US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of a ceasefire and hostage deal in his plan to finally end the devastating war in Gaza that has killed more than 67,000 people and created grave problems for both parties on the International stage.
Just a day after the second anniversary of "October 7th Attacks", Hamas' cross-border incursion that triggered Israel's renewed Gaza occupation, indirect talks in Egypt yielded an agreement on the initial stage of Trump's 20-point framework to bring peace to the Palestinian territory.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the agreement "a great day for Israel" and said his government would convene on Thursday to approve it. Hamas responded with caution, stating the negotiations were "responsible and serious" and called on the US and other mediators to ensure that Israel implements the deal "without disavowal or delay".
The War began when Israel launched a response to Hamas' attacks and began deploying it's military to Gaza on October 27th, 2023. The Hamas attacks took lives of more than 1200 Israelis and took hostage 251 people.
