Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: Hundreds of thousands of citizens performed the namaj-e-janaza of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi at the South Plaza of the Sangsad Bhaban today. The Chief Adviser, numerous senior officials, politicians and people from all walks of life together performed in congregation as one of the largest funerals in Bangladesh history.
Hadi's elder brother Mawlana Dr Abu Bakar Siddique administered the namaj-e-janaza and offered prayers seeking forgiveness of his departed soul. Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber spoke on the occasion as well. The Chief Adviser also spoke on the occasion and Religious Affairs Adviser A F M Khalid Hossain read out the biography of Hadi.
The South Plaza of the Sangsad Bhaban and the entire Manik Mia Avenue witnessed a lot of emotion as many broke into tears for Hadi while others were chanting slogans against fascism as well as demanding trial for Hadi's killing. Mourners from all walks of life offered prayers and many were very emotional at Hadi's untimely demise.
Sharif Osman Bin Hadi was an aspiring candidate for Dhaka-8 seat who was shot on December 12 after Jummah prayer and announced dead on December 18 in Singapore after extensive treatment. His body will be buried in Dhaka University next to National Poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam.
