News Desk, Bangladesh Global: After casting his vote today, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus described the ongoing general elections and referendum as a historic opportunity to build a “new Bangladesh,” calling the day one of the greatest joys and a moment of liberation for the nation.
“Through the process that began today we have progressed forward. We got an opportunity at every step to build a new Bangladesh. Let’s celebrate the birthday of a new Bangladesh today. Let the whole nation celebrate the festival throughout the day,” he said.
The Chief Adviser made the remarks after casting his vote at the Gulshan Model School and College polling centre here this morning. Noting that the transformation would be ensured further through the referendum, he said, “Casting vote for candidates is very important. However, the referendum is equally important”.
He called upon everyone to participate in the referendum to build a new Bangladesh. “It is a day of immense happiness in my life. It is also the day of great joy and a moment of liberation for the people of Bangladesh,” he added. Referring to the entire process underway, he said this is what defines today’s journey, an end to past nightmares and the beginning of a renewed national framework.
