International Desk, Bangladesh Global: Israel launched a missile attack on Iran, shortly after which the United States joined Israel in the attack, a US official told Al Jazeera.
He said the attacks on Iran were being carried out as part of a joint military operation by the United States and Israel. Immediately after the attacks, Israel declared a "special and permanent" state of emergency across the country, fearing Iranian retaliation.
The BBC reported that three explosions were heard in the central area of the capital Tehran, citing Iranian State News Agency. The report also said that they had received information that multiple missiles had hit the capital's Republican Quarter.
