PM inquires about Bangladeshi expats in Middle East

Dhaka, Bangladesh Global: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today sought updates on the condition of Bangladeshis residing in the Middle East amid escalating regional tensions. The prime minister also discussed the impact of widespread flight cancellations to and from the Middle East, while closely monitoring the situation at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with passengers stranded due to flight disruptions.

"In light of the incidents in Iran, the prime minister inquired about the situation of Bangladeshis in Middle Eastern countries and provided necessary instructions,” Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said. “Due to the ongoing situation, many Middle East-bound flights have been cancelled. Various related issues were discussed during the meeting,” he added. Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury has also been engaged full-time in addressing the situation.
