Entertainment Desk, Bangladesh Global: A group art exhibition titled “Infrathin: Perspectives into Our Existence” has begun at Edge Gallery in the capital’s Gulshan 2 area. The month-long exhibition, which began on Saturday, is a homage to country’s 15 noted artists belonging to generations that have emerged since the 1970s and whose works have defined the evolving outlines of Bangladesh’s thriving art scene.

‘Infrathin’ exhibits artistry by 15 noted artists The participating artists of the exhibition are--Abdur Shakoor Shah, Mohammad Eunus, Jamal Ahmed, Rokeya Sultana, Tajuddin Ahmed, Golam Faruque Bebul, Shambhu Acharya, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Mohammad Iqbal, Anisuzzaman Anis, Anukul Chandra Majumder, Maksuda Iqbal Nipa, Azmeer Hossain, Md Tokon and Tejosh Halder Josh.

They bring to this exhibition interpretations of the life-world born out of their commitment to work according to their own aesthetic logics that have evolved over the years in relation to their changing relationship with society.

At “Infrathin: Perspectives into Our Existence”, coexistence is the creed as is the collective will to strive towards a future that may seem indeterminate at first but is given a definitive form not by being predictive but by being productive.

Artist Mustafa Zaman is the curator of the exhibition.

French avant-garde artist Marcel Duchamp once used the term “infrathin” to point to the minuscule difference between an ordinary object and an artwork made from the same mould. Art becomes an object of social-aesthetic significance because of this difference.

Edge, The Foundation, is popular for its well-known Edge Gallery. The gallery will complete an eight-year legacy in March. Over the years, Edge Gallery has been a forefront supporter of artistic talent, presenting numerous solo and duet exhibitions that highlight a diverse range of artists and their unique visions.

All the featured artists from Edge have participated in the group exhibition “Infrathin”. The exhibition will continue till 6 April, every day from 10:00am to 6:00pm at Bay’s Edgewater on NE (N) 12 North Avenue, Gulshan 2.
